Volleyball match held between AR and Myanmar army

Imphal, August 1 (EMN): In a move to strengthen international relationships with Myanmar and India, a friendly volleyball match between the troops of 31 Assam Rifles (AR) and Myanmar army was held at Nampisha during Indo Myanmar Post Level Meeting on Monday, Assam Rifles sources said. Nampisha is a remote border village in Manipur’s newly created Kamjong district bordering Myanmar, where the post of 31 Assam Rifles located while the Myanmar army was stationed at Onzia post, across the border.
“First friendly match was played between the teams of two nations on July 31 in Indo- Myanmar bordering village Nampisha,” says PRO Assam Rifles (South). “A warm welcome was extended by villagers of Nampisha to the neighbouring nation’s team who had come to take part in the first friendly match.” Prior to the match, Headman of Nampisha welcomed both the teams and followed by a cheerful match between two nations which were witnessed by a good crowd from Nampisha Khanpat Khullen, Ningchou and other bordering villages.
The initiative to organise the friendly match was taken by Commandant Colonel Ajay Kumar of 31 Assam Rifles and his team under supervision of Sector commander and it was highly applauded by the locals and both the teams. On the culmination sweets were exchanged and as a token of appreciation prizes were distributed to both the teams.
