Vishepu Ghami Welfare Society celebrates silver jubilee

DIMAPUR — The Vishepu Ghami Welfare Society, Dimapur (VGWSD), celebrated its silver jubilee on December 9 at the residence of its banker at Chekiye village, Chümoukedima.

According to a press release, the occasion was marked by the release of the jubilee magazine by Dr. Zhekheto Zhimomi, retired director of Treasuries and Accounts.

Among the speakers at the event, Hukato Muru, president of Satakhami Union Hq. Dimapur, called on the community to use the jubilee as a time to reflect on the past and move towards embracing the future. He also emphasised that the responsibility of uplifting the village lies within its members, no matter where they may go.

The chairman of Vishepu Ghami Kuposhukulu, Ahoto Muru, expressed gratitude to all the pioneers in his address. Meanwhile, former chairman of VGWSD, Vikato Zhimomi, briefed the gathering on the genesis of the union, which was officially formed in 1998.

A minute of silent prayer was observed in remembrance of departed members of the Vishepu community. Following that, a prayer of blessing for the community was pronounced by home evangelist Hosukha Aye.

The main speaker for the event, Jesper R Yeptho, associate women pastor of Asukhoto Town Baptist Church, urged the community to consider the jubilee as an opportunity to start anew.

She remarked that in the last twenty-five years, there might have been aspects in which the community was lagging behind and areas in which they were progressing and leading. She encouraged the community to reflect, both individually and collectively, and to move forward, leaving the negative aspects behind.

The event concluded with a jubilee feast.
