Villages told to adopt ‘one village one co-operative society’

[caption id="attachment_241894" align="alignright" width="600"] Anthony Yhome, deputy registrar of co-operative society, addressing the gathering during workshop[/caption] Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): A one-day workshop on ‘one village one co-operative’ in respect of Northern Angami-11 comprising 30 villages was organised by the assistant Registrar of Co-operative Society, Kohima, in collaboration with Northern Angami Chukehie Society, Kohima, was held at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, on April 1. Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Society, Anthony Yhome, in his address, expressed optimism that ‘one village one co-operative society’ would benefit the farmers in the villages. He lamented that there are many societies in the state that do not contribute any benefit to the society. He has warned to implement “No work no help from the government.” He informed that any person could be a member of the co-operative society to start any activities like weaving society, poultry, dairy farm etc. In this regards, he asked the villagers to get benefit from the co-operative society. Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Society, Bokato Hesso, in his address, stated that the initiative of ‘one village one society’ was first of its kind in the state and expressed confidence that the project would go well with the cooperation of the villagers. Highlighting about cooperative society, Hesso stated that it is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. He stated that the co-operative society would be made legal under Nagaland cooperative societies Act 2017, whose objective is to promote the economic interest or general welfare of its members or of the public in accordance with its seven cooperative principles. In this regard, he said the registered society could avail various benefit schemes of the state and centre. He further encouraged the members to follow the objective and principles of the society and set example for others to emulate. Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Society, Imsunungsang, in his address, shared on the socio-economic, cultural benefits by forming co-operative society. He stated that any person could be a member of the society with equal right having equal share and benefit irrespective of their status. He also highlighted on the various activities to be carried out by the concerned department for the benefit of the formed society. The programme was chaired by the president of Northern Angami Chukehie society, Vibeilietuo Kets, while the invocation prayer was said by senior pastor of Central Baptist Church, Neichalie Chadi. The programme was attended by around 300 persons from 30 villages of Northern Angami areas.
