Villages get updates in agriculture Best Practices

Dimapur, March 2 (EMN): A training programme for farmers was conducted on February 26 at Pongo village for farmers from Pongo and Hongnyu villages. A press release from the village councils on Saturday informed that the programme was sponsored by the Phom Gazetted Officers’ Association. B Nyenghong Phom; C Bhupom Phom; and Amei Phom were the resource persons for the event. They talked about various topics such as sustainable practices for efficient Jhum cultivation; best practices in fruits and vegetables cultivations; and improved methods of weed-free Jhum cultivation etc. A successful farmer from Yongam village, Ango Phom, also presented an “impressive success testimony of farming,” the press release stated. ‘The training was one the first of its kind in the village and our village farmers had been much benefited,’ the press release stated. The councils of Pongo and Hongnyu villages have expressed gratitude to the Phom Gazetted Officer Association for sponsoring the training.
