Villagers migrating to urban areas an issue, says Zhaleo Rio

The Department of Urban Development today inaugurated the Market Complex for vendors at Chumukedima town with Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Development Nagaland; Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd.) as the chief guest.
During the inaugural programme Zhaleo Rio highlighted that corporation in every organization will bring solidarity among the people in every society.
He said migration of villagers to urban areas in search of employment opportunities have increased considerably over the past few years as according to 2011 census rapid growth of urban population is being increased by 69%.
Such kind of complexes which is constructed for the better living conditions of the local people and to bring better changes in their business setups, said Zhaleo Rio while appealing the town vendors to utilize the market complex at the maximum.
He also said that the local vendors should not only get shop allotment but should also sit and run the shop on their own instead of hiring or keeping somebody else to run the shop.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that if the vendors strive in getting a better livelihood from their small business setup then the purpose of setting up such market complexes will be served.
Lamenting the confrontation faced among the government and land owners for any kind of projects that needs land, Zhaleo Rio pointed out that understanding and corporation should be existent between both the parties as every projects aims to bring good quality life, better road connectivity, etc.
The brief report provided by Executive Engineer, Urban Development Ketouzo Peseyie highlighted that the project was sanctioned with an amount of Rs. 221 lakhs on December 2010.
The market complex at Chumukedima is a two storey building with 27 shops (each with store room), a restaurant, gents and ladies toilet in both the floors and 5 godowns adjacent to the market complex.
The complex is said to be looked after by a marketing committee led by administration head of Chumukedima town.
