Vijay Hazare Trophy: Uttarakhand beat Nagaland

Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): Uttarakhand defeated Nagaland by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Dehradun during their Plate Group clash in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy on October 8.

An update from Jr secy NCA informed that Nagaland chose to bat after winning the toss on Tuesday. Stuart Binny waged a lone battle for the state with 107 runs in 108 balls (7×4, 7×6). Nagaland was all out in 44.5 overs, managing to put up a low total of 174. Aosashi – 15 runs and Tahmeed – 11 runs were the other key contributors for the state.

D K Sharma, Pradeep Chamoli, Sahil, Ashish and D Negi took two wickets apiece for Uttarakhand.

Chasing a total of 107, Uttarakhand reached the target at 36.2 overs, scoring 176 runs for loss of three wickets. Avneesh Sudha scored 77 runs and Tanmay Srivastava- 54 for the state.

SS Mundhe took two wickets and Tahmeed one for Nagaland.

With the win, Uttarakhand is in the second place in Plate Group while Nagaland remains winless in the trophy.


Men’s U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy

In a separate update, Jr secy NCA informed that Uttarakhand defeated Nagaland by 147 runs in Men’s U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2019-20 on Tuesday.

Uttarakhand amassed 268 runs for loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs after choosing to bat on winning the toss. Kamal scored 103 runs and Aryan- 33 for the state.

Daniel Jamir and Parbez took two wickets apiece in the match.

Chasing 268 runs, Nagaland managed to score only 121 runs as its players were bundled out in 43.3 overs. Vipul Kapoor scored 52 runs and Hem- 20 for the state.

For Uttarakhand, Irfan, Gaurav and Arya took two wickets each.
