Vihokhu village wins national panchayat awards

Atokhe Aye gives away the awards to the representatives of Vihokhu village on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day 2021 on April 24.

Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): Vihokhu village under Kuhuboto RD Block in Dimapur district was conferred with two national panchayat awards namely Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar and Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day which was observed all across India on April 24 in which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gram panchayats through video conferencing.

An update from the village stated that RD Block Kuhuboto initiated a programme to mark the occasion in the conference hall of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Dimapur, which was also attended by the additional deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Atokhe Aye, and the concerned department officials.

It stated that on behalf of the department and the government, the ADC handed over the citations to village council chairman of Vihokhu, Khehovi Sumi, and the VDB secretary, Vitolu Awomi, in the presence of BDO, Phoishe Sema, and DPO, Tsukti Jamir. It added that the citations come along with a cash award which was directly transferred to the awardee panchayat account by the prime minister.

It mentioned that Narendra Modi had launched the nationwide Svamitva scheme and e-property card distribution to about 4.09 lakhs property owners in 5002 villages across the country during the programme. Narendra Singh Tomar, union minister of Panchayati Raj, government of India, delivered the welcome address.
