Victory Flame of Swarnim Vijay Varsh reaches Nagaland, ex-servicemen felicitated

Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): The Victory Flame of Swarnim Vijay Varsh arrived at Zakhama Military Station in Nagaland’s capital Kohima on Wednesday and was received by the Station Commander.

Swarnim Vijay Varsh is observed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1971 war and in honour of soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

A large number of ex-servicemen, including veterans of 1971 War and “Op Vijay”, 1999, attended the event, informed an update from Lt Col Sumit K Sharma, PRO (Def) Kohima.

“The ex-servicemen were felicitated and a cultural programme was also held showcasing the diverse culture of the nation. After the ceremony the ‘Victory Flame’ proceeded for Imphal,” it added.

Another update went on to inform that a number of events like cycle rally and road show of the Victory Flame from Classic Island to Kenguruse Memorial and back to Kohima War Memorial were organised in commemoration of the anniversary.

170 NCC cadets also visited Kohima war memorial and wreaths were laid by senior most NCC cadets followed by floral tributes by the cadets, it was informed.

The update went on to inform that a musical evening was organised for all ranks, families and children of Kohima garrison at Kenguruse hall.
