Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services will be carrying out Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination on cows, buffaloes, mithuns, pigs, goat and sheep on a mission mode under NADCP programme “FMD Mukt Bharat.” The programme was launched by the Prime Minister on July 23 to declare FMD-free in the country by the year 2030.
In an update, the director Dr. Temsumeren has appealed to all livestock owners to mandatorily get their animals vaccinated from the nearest veterinary hospitals, dispensaries, and health centres.
Further, all village functionaries/ councils are requested to direct the livestock owners in the respective villages for compulsory vaccination.
In a related statement, chief veterinary officer, Kohima, Dr. Joseph Angami informed all the public under Kohima district that a free mass vaccination programme under Foot and Mouth Disease Control Program ( FMD - CP ) for all cloven-footed animals namely buffalo, sheep, goat and pig would be conducted in the month of October. Public are requested to co-operate and avail the facilities.
