Veterinary college observes foundation day

Dean and faculty members of the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Jalukie on the occasion of its 5th foundation day on August 3.

Dimapur, Aug. 6 (EMN): College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie observed its 5th foundation day on Thursday at the college’s conference hall.

According to an update, on the occasion, dean of the college Prof. Arun Kumar Sangwan highlighted the achievements and discussed on strategies, how the Central Agricultural University mandate on teaching, research and extension activities can be achieved by the institute. He also emphasized on the importance innovation in teaching and inculcating entrepreneurial and creative thinking amongst the students, making the students as employers rather than job seekers after their studies.

As an acknowledgement of the their efforts in establishing the college, the institute felicitated Dr. Imtiwati, assistant professor, department of Livestock Production Management; Dr. Bhabesh Mili, assistant professor, department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry; Dr. Ksh Mahesh Singh, assistant professor, department of Animal Breeding and Genetics; Dr. Malsawmkima, assistant professor, department of Veterinary Anatomy; Njumthung Kithan, LDC; and Takceulak, MTS.

After receiving the recognition, Dr. Imtiwati, who is also the PRO of the college, thanked the government of Nagaland for donating 266 acres of land for the college. He also thanked the vice chancellor of Central Agricultural University (Imphal) for suggesting of establishment of veterinary college in the state and the people of Jalukie for accommodating all the faculties and staff who are from every parts of India.

The foundation stone for the institute was laid by Radha Mohan Singh, the then union minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on August 6, 2016. Since then the Institute has grown from strength to strength and the institute has the first batch of final year students this year, it informed.
