Veteran actress Zeenat Aman attends Karbi Anglong’s World Tourism Day observation

Diphu, Sep. 27 (EMN): Stunnedby the beauty of Karbi Anglong, veteran Bollywood actress and former beauty queen,Zeenat Aman said, ‘I am very happy to participate in the World Tourism Day to celebrate tourism of Karbi Anglong. I wish my film fraternity to come here to witness the very beauty of the place.”

The former fashion model made the statement while gracing the World Tourism Day celebration in Diphu on Tuesday.

The Tourism department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) observed  World Tourism Day in the presence of a renowned actress, former fashion model and former Femina Miss India and Miss Asia Pacific International; Zeenat Aman at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Town Hall on Sep. 26 in Diphu.

The actress graced the observation along with two other special invitees Isabell Daniel from International Rootbride Foundation, Germany and Shiraj Henry, Bollywood director who joined the observation.

The Karbi Anglong Tourism Department welcomed and felicitated Aman with Karbi traditional turban (poho) and a bouquet.

Addressing the gathering, the former fashion model and actress said, ‘There is beautiful greenery, forest, flora and fauna, rivers and hills; everyone will want to come here. The people are peaceful and close to nature. Most important is the smiling and happy faces of the people, which is unbelievable.”

“I love seeing the culture and dance and love you in finding all the varied and rich culture and tradition of this area,” the actress said while thanking the KAAC for having invited her.

Inaugurating the celebration the Chief Executive Member, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said that the Tourism department of KAAC is fortunate to have renowned actress and Miss Asia Pacific International Zeenat Aman in the celebration while expressing that the tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in the world that gives livelihood to thousands of people.

The CEM said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the flow of tourism has been badly affected in several countries.

The CEM said the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park is famous for its one-horned rhino. Legend says Kaziranga came from the Karbi legendary name Kajir Ronghangpi, who predominantly lived in the area.

Informing the guests about the place, the CEM said that Karbi Anglong is endowed with hills, rivers, birds, waterfalls and different culture, songs and dances while the Karbi Youth Festival celebrated in February attracts thousands of people and tourists from outside.

Tourism as one of the solutions for unemployment, the CEM urged educated youths to take up various services as sources of employment.

The CEM also opened the official android mobile application of Karbi Anglong Tourism.

The students of Karbi Traditional Music, Culture & Research Institute performed Karbi cultural dance Nimso Kerung. Local artistes Akangsha Enghipi and Deepti Tokbipi also performed some of the numbers of Zeenat Aman like ‘Dum maro dum’, ‘Chura liya hai time jo dil ko’, ‘Laila ho laila and Ab baat banjaye’.
