Vesho Doulo wins the AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026 held at Ngwalwa, Peren district.

DIMAPUR — The AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026 concluded at the Ngwalwa Village Council Hall, Peren, on Saturday.
The tournament, which ran from February 10 to the 14th, was hosted by the Inter-School Chess Association – Ngwalwa Circle (ISCA-NC) under the aegis of the Nagaland Chess Association and the All India Chess Federation, according to an update.
The event brought together 40 participants, providing a platform for both experienced and emerging chess players.
The competition was conducted under the supervision of Vekukho Soho, chief arbiter, assisted by Mengise Haikam, deputy arbiter, along with officials of ISCA-NC.

In the premier Open Category, Vesho Doulo emerged as champion with a score of 9 points. Ilung Haikam secured the first runner-up position with 7½ points, followed by Icicang Haikam as second runner-up with 7 points. Akangzang Haikam finished in fourth position, while Doson Isipeung, Kediteilungbe, and Kekuyisile Ilunglung completed the top ranks.
In the age category results, Tezeve Doulo claimed first position in the Under-11 Boys section, with Ilungding Ilunglung finishing second and Reku Haikam securing third place. The Under-15 Boys title was won by Iheibe, followed by Keyiharangbe Doson in second place and Emran Haque in third. In the Under-15 Girls section, Kelungheigumle emerged champion, while Keyiziuna Nsa and Rulevelu Swuro secured the second and third positions respectively.
The Under-19 Boys category saw Mamnun Alom take the top honour, followed by Injamul Haque and Timothy Nsa in second and third positions. In the Under-19 Girls category, Vekutolu Swuro clinched the championship, while Lungliaheile Hau finished as runner-up and Kiebamsile secured third place. Among ISCA players, Maciding Doson secured first position, followed by Namyilungbe Hau in second place and Haicigwangbe in third.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the All India Chess Federation and the Nagaland Chess Association for their support, noting that the tournament reaffirmed chess as a tool for discipline and intellectual development in the region.
