As a part of community efforts to ascertain the number of non-Nagas residing in Wokha district and to check and control the influx of illegal immigrants, the apex students’ organization of the Kyong Naga community will be undertaking a verification drive in Wokha district. The campaign will continue till May 2, the Kyong Students’ Union informed on April 24.
The Kyong Students’ Union will be conducting a drive to verify, renew, or issue, non-local registration cards from April 27. The drive will continue till May 2, the Kyong Students’ Union informed in a note issued to the media on Friday. The verification and renewal will be conducted in the office of the students’ organization in Wokha town from 10:00 AM and till 3:00Pm. All the non-Nagas residing within Wokha district are directed to furnish the following documents before the verification team at the union’s office: two passport size photographs, Inner Line Permit, Permanent Residence Certificate / Domicile Certificate, and electoral identity card from their respective domiciled state or territory.
They are also to furnish the registration or membership card from their respective community union in Wokha, the students’ organization stated.
“This exercise is being carried out so as to ascertain the numbers of non-Locals residing within Wokha district and also to keep a check and control on the influx of illegal immigrants. Failing to comply with the directive of the union shall lead to its own course of action,” the organization added.
