Vehicle restrictions imposed on polling day in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — Zunheboto District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rahul Bhanudas Mali announced restrictions on the movement of private vehicles between polling stations and assembly constituencies within Zunheboto district on polling day, which is April 19, from 7 am to 4 pm.

The restriction will apply to all vehicles except those requisitioned for election duties, including those from the district administration, police, press and media, the Central Armed Police Forces, polling personnel, medical department, and departments exempted by the Election Commission of India, according to the DIPR report.

In addition, vehicle movement for medical emergencies and other urgent situations will be permitted only after obtaining prior permission from the offices of the DC and DEO.

It said that failing to comply with the order, strict actions will be initiated against the defaulters and will be booked under relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
