DIMAPUR — Nagaland Transport Commissioner Elias T Lotha has highlighted that motor vehicle emissions are the primary source of air pollution in Nagaland.
Addressing the flagging off event of vehicular emission awareness drive at the Transport Commissionerate premises in Kohima on Tuesday, the commissioner emphasised that collective efforts from citizens, policymakers and vehicle manufacturers are pivotal in effectively curbing vehicular pollution.
Lotha also stressed on the importance of changing mindsets and becoming proactive to achieve positive outcomes, a DIPR report stated.
He expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Pollution Control Board for funding the initiative, noting that awareness about impending dangers is crucial for protection.
Lotha characterised the campaign as a form of civic education to awaken society to the realities of pollution and its potential benefits through reduction.
The event began with an invocation by Ikuto Sumi, followed by an introductory address delivered by Mulusato Shijob, motor vehicle inspector.
The programme was chaired by Purnungsang, Additional Regional Transport Officer.
