Vehicle collides with Rajdhani Express; two dead
Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): A vehicle (Hyundai i10) bearing registration number AS-23 L 5787 entered a manned level crossing gate at around 9:10 pm on July 15 between Dikom and Chabua stations of Tinsukia and came in front of 12324 Dibrugarh Town – New Delhi Rajdhani Express resulting in an accident that unfortunately killed two persons of the vehicle.
The engine of the train was also damaged. Pranav Jyoti Sharma, chief public relations officer, NF Railway, Maligaon in a press statement said that relief and rescue team arrived at the accident site at 10 pm. Senior officials led by DRM and ADRM reached the spot at 10.20 pm from Tinsukia.
Section was cleared at 23.20hrs by removing the road vehicle which was entangled with Loco. Sharma stated that the level crossing gate was not closed.
The gate-man has been suspended immediately and a high level inquiry has been ordered.
