Vecita Khesoh lifts 8th Hornbill Wrestling C’ship

The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) has once again swept the first three titles of the Hornbill Naga Wrestling Champ 2014 organised by Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) at Amphitheatre, Kisama. Vechita Khesoh (29) from Yoruba village lifted the 8th Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship to bag Rs. 40,000 and citation. Venuzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu village and Pfusato Tetseo of K. Bawe all from Chakhesang tribe stood runners-up and third position winners to receive Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
The only face saver for the Angami Sports Association (ASA) was Khrievotuo Sekhose from Kohima Village to bag the fourth position and receive cash Rs. 10,000.
Altogether 32 wrestlers from four tribes Chakhesang, Angami, Zeliang and Poumai took part in the championship.
NPF MLA Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu inaugurating the championship as the chief guest said sport reflects our life styles and outlook.
Maintaining that Naga wrestling was practiced since the forefathers time, he stressed on the need to promote, preserve and protect the traditional heritage.
He also encouraged the sportspersons to dedicate themselves, he also appealed them to maintain discipline to be successful.
NWA Joint Secretary Mosonyi Domeh administered oath to the wrestlers while vice president Neivikuolie Khatsu delivered introductory speech.
