KOHIMA, OCTOBER 31
Chakhesang wrestler Vechita Khesoh of Yoruba village downed Angami wrestler Zasevikho Meyatsu of Mezoma village to emerge as the champion of the King of the Ring Series 2015 held at Kohima Local Ground today.
Vechita (105 kg), son of Lt. Sülüyi Khesoh, who won the heavyweight title yesterday after beating the same opponent, fetch a cash award of Rs. 75,000, along with one bike and the King of The Ring Series title belt, while the runner-up Zasevikho, son of Methalhouvi Meyatsu walked home richer with Rs. 50,000.
The two losing semifinalists Kekhriezo Nagi (Angami), son of Videtuolie Nagi of Sechü Zubza village and Vekuyi Medeo (Chakhesang), son of Rüveto of Phusachodu village, also received Rs. 20,000 each along with citation.
Earlier in the semifinal, both Zasevikho and Vechita overcame their rivals Kekhriezo and Vekuyi with straight set victory to make it to the final.
In quarterfinal, Kekhriezo Nagi beat 2015 middleweight runner-up Kevizhakho Suokhrie (Jotsoma), while Vechita Khesoh defeated heavyweight semifinalist Keduovilie Zumu (Tuophema). Vekuyi Medeo trounced Besühveto Chüzho to make it to last four, while Zasevikho Meyatsu also overcame another heavyweight semifinalist Keneisevi Meyase (Sechü Zubza) to enter the semis.To the disappointment of the Khuochiezie spectators, Zeliang wrestler Nlumrai Hegwang of Mpai village, who over the years have been winning the hearts of the crowd, went down to Keduovilie in the pre-quarterfinal bout.
In the junior championship, Bongtang Phom overcame Ketohol Raphael Thao in the final to emerge as the champion of the first ever junior championship of the Naga Wrestle Mania organized by 3E Nagaland.
The third positions were shared by Petevikho Kuotsu and Mhasheve Resuh.
The champion walked away with a cash award of Rs. 10,000, while the runner-up received Rs. 5,000. The two losing semifinalist also received a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 each.
The closing function was graced by Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources and Sports, State Lotteries & Music Task Force as the chief guest.
The grand finale was also attended by MLA Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, chairman, Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation.
The 4th Naga Wrestle Mania 2015 was organized by 3E Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and Angami Sports Association (ASA).
