DIMAPUR — The ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yarta (VBSY) campaign for tribal locations in Nagaland, which covered eight villages in Dimapur, Tuensang, and Mokokchung on Wednesday, saw a large public turnout.

According to a press release, as part of the VBSY campaign, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dimapur, organised Janjati Gaurav Divas in Dimapur’s Zani village, which attracted a large number of villagers and womenfolk. The campaign was also held at Diphupar B, Ikishe village, and Doshehe village.

The campaign’s highlights included health camps, Aadhar authentication, Ujjwala and banking services registration, the narration of success stories by beneficiaries of government welfare schemes, and a drone display.

The first day of the VBSY events for Chare block under Tuensang district began on Wednesday at Tsaru village and Chungliyimty village.

The dignitaries at the inaugural programme included EAC Kihomong, block development officer (BDO) cum BMM B Wakhoo Joorlym Konyak, and nodal officer BBFCL Aicheng K, as well as village elders and village chairmen from both the village and the general public.

It began with a brief introduction of VBSY by officials, followed by EAC Kihomong administering the ‘Hamara Sankalp Visksit Bharat’ pledge. During the programme, members of the villages’ NRLM self-help group performed a special song and folk dance. The villagers also enjoyed a demonstration of drone usage in agriculture.

The programme concluded with the EAC and BDO felicitating successful beneficiaries. After the event, the public had access to on-site medical check-ups, Ujjwala registration, and information on banking services related to social security schemes.

Events in Mokokchung district at Kubza village and Ao Settsu village at Ongpangkong (North) also drew a large crowd. These featured similar activities.

Coordination meeting in Wokha

A coordination meeting for VBSY was held in Wokha on Tuesday, November 21, with Subhash Kumar, central observer for Wokha district and deputy secretary, Ministry of Defence, leading the meeting.

It was held at the DC conference hall, Wokha, alongside the district prabhari officer for VBSY Wokha and heads of various offices in the district.

During his interaction with district officers, Kumar explained that the meeting aimed to enhance awareness through outreach activities and ensure comprehensive coverage of schemes. The primary goal, according to him, is to reach the unreached, specifically those vulnerable individuals eligible for various centrally sponsored schemes but yet to benefit from them.

He stressed the importance of disseminating information, raising awareness about the schemes, and enrolling potential beneficiaries using insights gained from the yatra. Kumar urged all departments to actively participate and contribute their best efforts to the successful execution of the campaign.

During the meeting, DC Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan informed and highlighted the various activities to be undertaken by the departments, as well as suggested activities for when the van arrives at the gram panchayats.
