Various organisations welcome peace accord

Diphu, June 9 (EMN): Organisation such as Hill State Demand Council (HSDC), Karbi Students Association (KSA) president, Simeon Rongphar and its ally, Students and Youth for Justice (SYJ), Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum (KAWJF), Students and Youth Council (SYC) have welcomed the peace accord to be signed by the extremists outfits of Karbi Anglong with the Central government.

In a joint press conference held at KSA office in Diphu on Wednesday, they stated that all issues and problems should be ended through peaceful and democratic process. They further stated that the points included in the charter of demand should be known to the public so that it becomes transparent.

HSDC president, Laichan Engleng stated that the peace accord to be signed by five Karbi militants outfit with Central government has to include direct funding, law and order power, public commission office, and others. He went on to say that 'if the long aspirations of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous for Article 244(A) are not implemented, the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao will continue to demand its implementation'.
