DIMAPUR — Different organisations have condemned the suspected murder of Noghuvi K Sumi, a final-year Bachelor of Theology student whose lifeless body was found wrapped in a sack at the Northern Angami colony in Walford, Dimapur, on November 3.

SKK: The All Sümi Students' Union (SKK), in a condemnation note expressing shock and outrage, stated that the heinous crime has sent shockwaves through the student community and serves as a stark reminder of the alarming rise in violence and lawlessness in society.

“As a responsible students' organisation, we condemn this senseless act in the strongest possible terms. The brutal murder of an innocent student is a chilling reminder of the dangers that our youth face daily,” the union said.

While urging the authorities to take concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of students in Dimapur, the SKK went on to affirm that education should be pursued without fear of violence or intimidation.

“We will not tolerate such acts of violence and will work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served,” it added.

DNSU: The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU), in a note, stated that it strongly condemns this heinous act, which reflects a disturbing disregard for human life. The brutal killing of an innocent youth has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving a sense of outrage and grief.

The DNSU demanded a thorough and swift investigation into the incident to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. It also urged the authorities to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind Noghuvi’s tragic demise.

“We appeal to the public to cooperate with the investigating authorities and share any information that may assist in the investigation,” it added.

NTCA: The Nagaland Theological Colleges Association (NTCA), in a statement, expressed sadness at the tragic loss of Noghuvi from Shevishe village and a resident of Aghunato town.

Condemning “in the strongest terms,” the NTCA stated that depriving the deceased of the right to live is unacceptable under any circumstances and should be condemned by all.

Stating that when a student is murdered in cold blood, not only are lives shattered but the future of the land is also lost, it demanded that the authorities bring justice at the earliest.

It also offered deepest condolences and support to the family during this difficult time.

NACC: The Northern Angami Colony Council (NACC), Walford Dimapur, expressed pain and condemned the “brutal murder,” demanding swift action from law enforcement to apprehend the culprits as soon as possible and bring justice to the family.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family at this time of sorrow and grief,” it read.

WACU: The Western Aghunato Village Union (WAVU) stated in a note that it is “totally horrified” by the alleged murder of one of its bona fide members, son of Lt. Khetovi Achumi, at Walford, Dimapur, mentioning that the victim was a theology student at Integrated Mission Seminary in Khushiabill, Dimapur.

The union, while condemning the inhuman and merciless act, requested law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the case, apprehend the culprits at the earliest, and impose appropriate punishment as per the law.
