Various action plans undertaken by Assam rifles

Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): In continuation of its efforts for the welfare of the citizens, Assam Rifles conducts various activities across the state. Interaction programmes: 36 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) carried out an interaction with Civil Administration, town council and GBs at Peren town on March 31. During the interaction, development projects, upcoming recruitment rally and carrier counselling seminar for students of Peren District were discussed. The event was attended by ADC Peren, EAC Peren and SDO (Civil), 20 GBs and DBs of Peren. The same programme was consucted at Peren town on March 31. A similar programme was organised by 9 Assam Rifles with Village GBs and council chairman of 10 villages under Chizami Sub Division on March 28. Sport items distribution: 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) distributed sports items to the students of Pfutsero and Chiephobozou villages on 28 March. The unit distributed sports items to encourage and develop sportsmanship amongst the youth. 9 Assam Rifles also assured of promoting sports in the area by organising and assisting in sports events and matches. In an another programme, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) participated in the annual sports week of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung on March 29. Col KS Kataria, Commandant 44 Assam Rifles, graced the closing ceremony of the sports meet as guest of honour. In his speech, he motivated the students to bring up their talent at national and international levels. The students were also encouraged to join armed forces on the basis of their sports talent and avail better opportunities. Borewell at Tuli: 44 Assam Rifles set up water supply scheme (Borewell) at Tuli village and inaugurated on March 28, to alleviate the problems of drinking water to villagers by providing continuous supply of drinking water. 44 Assam Rifles stated that the villagers were facing acute shortage of water and problems of water borne diseases due to unhygienic water sources. Street lights at Ungma: 44 Assam Rifles installed ten solar street lights at Ungma village to alleviate the problem of movement and working during hours of darkness. The event was also followed by an interactive session with members of Ungma village. Col K S Kataria, Commandant, 44 Assam Rifles inaugurated the solar street lights at Ungma village on March 28. Provides wheelchairs to medical centres: 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) provided wheelchairs for the physically disabled persons to six different medical centres of Mokokchung districts on March 31. In a press release, AR PRO, stated that Commandant 44 AR was approached by Care and Support Society Mokokchung alongwith Imlibela Wati, social activist and beauty queen for providing the medical aid to Primary Health Centre, Ungma village, Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Aongza Ward Dispensary, Slangtem Ward Dispensary, Kumlong Ward Health Sub Centre and Kimang Care Trust, Care & Support Society. Lecture on women empowerment: 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a lecture on women empowerment at Chukitong on April 1. The lecture was delivered by Deputy Comandant, MN Khama, which was attended by 120 women of Chukitong and adjoining villages. Various issues pertaining to women empowerment, self sustenance and entrepreneurship were discussed.
