Vanguard FC are champions of Kohima Football League

Kohima, June 26 (EMN): Team Vanguard FC are the champions of the third edition of Seyie Auto Kohima Football League after a lead of 16 points. The team won the title after thrashing A Yhome FC 7-1, in the league’s last match here at the IG Stadium in Kohima on Wednesday, June 26.

The champion team walked home with a cash award of INR 1,20,000 along with running trophy and citations while the runners-up Forerunners FC pocketed INR 80,000.

Individual awards included best goalkeeper which was awarded to Tesingsen Kath of Vanguard FC; Best defender: Olando Yimchunger (Forerunners FC); Best midfielder: Sinlo Kath (Vanguard FC); Top scorer: Rhitsho Mero (Sechü Zubza) with a total goal of 15; Best fan club: Sechü Zubza FC; Best coach: Yhanshalo Kemp, Vanguard FC (coach and player) and the Player of the league: Khwetelhi Thopi (Forerunners FC)

Joint Secretary & Director Science & Technology Wonchio Odyuo attended the closing ceremony of the KFL as the special guest and gave away the awards to the winning team. The league was organised by the Kohima Town Club.
