Mokokchung, June 16 (EMN):
A two-day special vaccination drive for 45 years and above and People with Disabilities (PWDs), under the initiative of Mokokchung district task force (DTF), got underway in Mokokchung district on Wednesday.

The special vaccination drive was carried out at 15 locations under Mokokchung municipality and neighbouring villages of Mokokchung and Chuchuyimpang. The locations included Marepkong ward, Yimyu ward, Arkong ward, Salangtem ward, Dilong ward, Sungkomen ward, Artang ward, Mongsenbai ward, Aongza ward, Sangtemla ward, Alempang ward, Tongdentsuyong ward in Mokokchung town, Mokokchung village, Chuchuyimpang village, and Mokokchung compound.

Dr. Ayangla Saku informed Eastern Mirror that more than 500 beneficiaries under 45 years and above and 25 PWDs (18 years and above) were vaccinated on day one.

Dr. Saku informed that 50 percent under 45 years and above population have been vaccinated so far in the district, while less than 20 percent under 18 years and above category have been vaccinated.

She also informed that online booking for vaccination is currently being conducted at IMDH, Urban PHC Yimyu and three CHCs at Mangkolembam Changtongya and Tuli. She added that the rest of the health centres in the districts are administering vaccination on spot registrations.

While lamenting that about 20-30 online bookings for vaccination do not match and are wasted in a session, she appealed to the beneficiaries, who do not want to take the jabs on their booking date, to cancel their booking before the jabs session so that other beneficiaries could take their slots.

When contacted, DTF Mokokchung nodal officer for Covid-19 vaccination and SDO (C), Sentilong Ozukum, informed that similar special vaccination drives would be carried out for frontline workers, healthcare workers and people with special needs in the coming days.

He also acknowledged all the heads of offices under Mokokchung district and the All Ward Union, Mokokchung town, for providing volunteers and logistic support toward the special vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the next special drive would be conducted on June 18. As per the information from the government of India cowin dashboard, a total of 37,949 vaccine doses have been administered in Mokokchung district till date.
