Uttar Pradesh best performing state in India Smart Cities Awards Contest
Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): Uttar Pradesh was on Friday ranked top performing state under the Smart Cities Mission’s “India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020”, and it was followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the second and third positions respectively.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) awarded Chandigarh as the top performer among the union territories.
The MoHUA organised an online event on Friday to commemorate six years of three urban transformative missions of the Central government — Smart Cities Mission (SCM), Atal Mission for Urban Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), where results of India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 and Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework (CSCAF) were announced.
In Smart Cities Leadership Award category, Ahmadabad, Varanasi and Ranchi were announced the top three performers while Indore and Surat jointly won the City Award.
Indore also won the Innovative Idea Award for carbon credit financing mechanism; Kalyan-Dombivali and Varanasi were joint winners in the Covid Innovation Award.
Agartala was the only state from the Northeast to receive the ISAC 2020 in the category of “sustainable business model” Project Award.
Surat, Indore, Ahmedabad, Pune, Vijayawada, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Vadodara, were awarded four star rating under CSCAF.
