USSC issues standing order to monitor polls, enforce ENPO resolution
DIMAPUR — In accordance with the Chenmoho Resolution of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), which stipulates refraining from participation in any state or central elections, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has issued a standing order to all eight federating units and its units office for strict monitoring on voting day, i.e., April 19, under the jurisdiction of the USSC.
In the order, it asked the federation/area offices under USSC to activate/create control rooms at their respective headquarters and start operations with immediate effect until the election process is over and it asked them to deploy dedicated surveillance teams to monitor all polling stations during the voting day.
Instructing the monitoring teams to maintain vigilant observation to ensure adherence to the guidelines outlined in the resolution, it said that monitoring teams should be empowered to intervene promptly in any situation and timely report to the USSC control room for any assistance or reinforcement to educate citizens, if any.

It further requested conducting regular reviews of monitoring procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure effective enforcement of the standing order. It asked to ensure thorough surveillance of polling stations to prevent any inadvertent involvement or breaches of the resolution and to coordinate closely with local authorities to uphold the community’s commitment to abstain from electoral activities.
The USSC sought everyone’s cooperation, irrespective of tribes or castes under Sangtam jurisdiction and refrained from violating the directives.
Following the directive issued by the USSC, the office of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union appealed to all citizens of Seyochung to refrain from participating in the election.
The union advised all citizens and students of Seychung, whether residing within or outside the eastern jurisdiction, to adhere to the directives of the ENPO and USSC.
Furthermore, the Union encouraged all citizens to contribute and cooperate with the ENPO and USSC’s call for the creation of the Frontier Nagaland Territory.
