Using satellite imaging tech to plan development

A seminar on the application of high resolution satellite imaging as tools for planning development was conducted by Digital Globe Inc. and Zymax Technologies in Kohima on November 20. The seminar was held in association with Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre, of the Planning and Coordination Department, Government of Nagaland. In his opening remarks Additional Development Commissioner Temsuwati said there is a need for “high resolution satellite imageries for perspective planning and development in the state of Nagaland.” He urged the participants from various line departments to explore geospatial technologies and make use of it as a tool for various planning and development activities in the state of Nagaland.
Scientist and experts from Digital Globe presented high resolution satellite imagery applications with live demonstrations during the seminar. Various departments also presented their space-based applications.
