Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) has urged that state government to use funds judiciously with accountability and transparency, and appealed to collaborate with civil society organisations and churches to combat Covid-19 more effectively and efficiently.
This appeal was made during a meeting on June 9 held at the Bishop’s House in Dimapur, which was attended by office bearers and advisory members of the forum, informed an update received here on Wednesday.
While appreciating the government officials, frontline workers, civil society, and NGOs for their efforts in the fight against the pandemic, the forum also appealed to the public to co-operate with them in implementing activities for the wellbeing of the citizens.
Urging all the churches and civil society organisations to follow the standard operating procedure in letter and spirit, it also requested them to extend their help and services to the quarantine centres by conducting prayer and counselling services.
On enforcing total shut down in Dimapur during the arrival of special trains carrying stranded persons, the CFD appealed to the Dimapur district administration to only seal the road from railway station to Agri Expo.
The chairman of the forum, Rev. Moses Murry highlighted the activities that CFD has been rendering since the outbreak of pandemic crisis.
So far, the forum has reached out to 4000 households with food grains, provided tele-counselling for children, youth and adult, online care and praying at different quarantine centres in Dimapur, prayer intercessions in collaboration with various churches and religious communities, launched a poster campaign on Covid-19 with the theme “Protect Yourself To Protect Others,” distributed 10000 masks to frontline and migrant workers and various sections of community.
The CFD decided to continue charity work, Covid-19 campaign and other activities till the virus is completely contained.
