WASU celebrates 41st biennial general conference at Khonoma

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he 41st biennial general conference of the Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) was held today at Khonoma village hosted by the Khonoma Students’ Union.
The inaugural function was graced by Khrielelie Peseyie, Rtd Additional Director, SCERT in absentia of Minister of Social Security and Welfare, Kiyaneilie Peseyie, who couldn’t turn up on the occasion due to the ongoing political division among the NPF legislators.In his address, Peseyie advised the students to fruitfully utilize their days as students and further urged them to make a good beginning as it will lead them towards a successful future.
Reminding the students that they are living in a very competitive world, he also urged them to train and update themselves well with all the required skills and knowledge to compete with the rest of the world.
“You may find yourself outdated or discarded if you are not trained and updated with what is required of your time,” Peseyie said while he also encouraged each and every student to strive with determination. He also cautioned the students to wisely decide their involvement in social activities as he feared over excessive involvement may hamper their study career.
President of Western Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (WAGOK) Kepelhoutuo Chüsi advised the student community to maintain a clean image while handling and managing student affairs.
“There is no limit of power for any student organization. But when there is no fairness and transparency in your affairs, how can you prick others to be fair in their management system,” Chüsi said while challenging the student organizations to lead from the front by first disciplining themselves.
The Secretary of Khonoma Village Council, Kevisekho Chücha, who also spoke at the occasion, advised the students to wisely utilize their reasoning power to their advantage. Stating that student life is the time for moral training, he also urged upon each and every student to lead a life of moral integrity.
The second session was graced by Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) general secretary Neivikuolie Khatsü, while Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK) advisor Salhoutuonuo Kruse graced the closing function as the guest of honour.
During the second session, the units under WASU also competed in Tati folk tune and extempore speech. In Tati folk tune, the first position was bagged by Khonoma Students’ Union represented by Kedoseno Thou and Megopheno Chase. Mezoma Students’ Union represented by Mhiesilie Rhitso and Rokovoto Khawakhrie was placed in second position and Sechü Zubza Students’ Union represented by Rajougweto Miasalhou and Zasevikho Rhisto bagged the third position.
While in extempore speech, Kethosenuo Medoze of Sechü Zubza Students’ Union bagged the first place. The second and third positions were bagged by Kevikrüta Vielie of Kiruphema Students’ Union and Zhieviseto Chase of Khonoma Students’ Union respectively.
Earlier, the inaugural function was chaired by WASU advisor Rokophrezo Rocus Rino, while WASU president Kedoroko Casavi delivered the presidential address. The welcome note was given by Mesasielie Meyase, president, Khonoma Students’ Union and special numbers were presented by Vikhotsono Zhünyü, finalist Naga Orpheus Hunt and Visedelhou Terhüja, finalist Naga Talents Promo 2012. The vote of thanks was tendered by Neilhouvilie Senotsu, Assembly Speaker, WASU.
The special guests of the 41st WASU general conference were Western Angami Gazzetted Officers’ Krotho, Western Angami Youth Organization and Western Angami Sports Association for the three respective sessions.
