Unreal Engine's MetaHuman Creator creates realistic digital humans in minutes

Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): Unreal Engine unveiled its newest tool today called MetaHuman Creator, which allows developers to create high-fidelity humans in mere minutes.

MetaHuman Creator is a cloud-based character creation tool for creating digital human characters. Unreal Engine says that the app will allow developers to create realistic digital humans in less than an hour instead of months that it usually takes to create characters using traditional methods.

In a blog post, Unreal Engine wrote, "Creating one high-quality digital human is difficult and time-consuming. Scaling that effort to create many diverse digital humans of the quality required by next-gen platforms and high-end virtual production is a formidable task indeed. That’s why today, we’re incredibly excited to offer you a first glimpse of MetaHuman Creator."

According to Unreal Engine, users can select from "30 hairstyles that use Unreal Engine’s strand-based hair, or hair cards for lower-end platforms." There is also 18 types of proportioned body to choose from.

The app also supports motion capture and it will allow users to export rigged models and animate them with Unreal’s Live Link Face iOS app.

In its blog post, Unreal Engine wrote, "Once you have your asset, you can animate it using performance capture tools—you can use Unreal Engine’s Live Link Face iOS app, and we’re also currently working with vendors on providing support for ARKit, DI4D, Digital Domain, Dynamixyz, Faceware, JALI, Speech Graphics, and  solutions—or keyframe it manually. Animations created for one MetaHuman will run on any other MetaHuman, enabling you to reuse work across projects."
