Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): In a significant development the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), along with representatives of its federating units, held a meeting with “Naga political groups” at the Oking on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by leaders from GPRN/NSCN, NSCN (Reformation), NNC (Z Royim/V Nagi), NNC/NPGN (Hozheto/Tsanthungo), NNC/GDRN (Kiumukam/Hetoi) and ENPO leaders – according to a press release received here.
“In order to entrench the political right of the people of Nagaland amid confusion arising out of gross political assumptions, the ENPO executive members along with the representatives of the federating Tribal units met the Naga political groups at the Oking on 14th March 2017.
“Basing on the principle of Naga unity first and political solution second, which was and continues to be the quest of ENPO since its formation, the Eastern Naga people's Organisation (ENPO) appreciated the formation of the Working Group (WG) by NNPGs to defend the inherent political right of homeland Nagas,” it stated.
According to the statement, the ‘NNPGs and ENPO’ believed that the government of India ‘has made its position very clear on the political hurdles and challenges on the Naga integration at the moment.’
This, according to the statement, also implies that there has to be an honourable and acceptable political solution for the people of Nagaland. “The Naga tribes transcending artificial boundaries are appealed that if the geo-political conditions do not integrate us physically at the present time, our unique customs, traditions, history and culture must be protected as they are inseparable.
“Nevertheless, our emotional integration must continue and enable future Naga generations to progress and achieve the vision of our forefathers,” the statement read.
