Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Whiskers CC defeated Trophy Fighters by 54 runs on Tuesday to enter the semi-final of the 5th Unity Cup.
Choosing to bat first, Whiskers CC put up a total of 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Vivek scored 42 runs and Jalal took five wickets in the match for the team.
Chasing the target of 159 runs, Trophy Fighters were all out for 105 runs.
Jalal was adjudged Man of the match for his five-wicket haul.
The quarterfinal match between Whiskers CC and Trophy Fighters was attended by Kedu Shupao, Youth Pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, East Dimapur.
In the second match of the day, Hurricane CC beat Dimensions XI by a convincing 135 runs to enter the semi-final of the tournament.
Batting first, Hurricane CC put up a total of 184 runs in 20 overs with Avinash scoring 84 runs. Dimensions XI were bowled out for just 50 runs.
Rayn Lama of Hurricane CC was declared Man of the match for his knock of 61 runs and three wickets.
The match between Hurricane CC and Dimensions XI was attended by Ajay Thapa, general secretary of Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur as match patron.
