Students and faculty of Department of Economics, Unity College during their visit to KVK Dimapur on February 3.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Economics, Unity College, Dimapur, undertook a field visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Jharnapani, on February 3.

Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist and head of KVK, in her welcome address, shared the mandates and objectives of KVK and how the kendra plays a pivotal role for the uplift of the farming community, school dropouts, educated unemployed and self help groups, an update stated.

In the technical session, Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO (Animal Science) shared about the prospects of poultry, diary and rabbitry, while Dr. Bendangla Imsong, CTO (Plant Breeding) spoke on crop production.

The students were taken to various demonstration and instructional farm units where components such as the integrated farming system models, vermi unit, poultry, diary, rabbitry, crop cafeteria, were shown and explained in brief. Altogether, there were 32 participants and the students were led by John Ovung, the head incharge and his colleagues.
