Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The Kohima unit of the Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) has expressed full support to the three-point ultimatum issued by their parent organisation. A press release from the association has asked all its members to be ‘mentally and physically prepared for any action as and when required.’ Also, its Kiphire unit has expressed solidarity with the NSSATA’s demands. The demands included 7th Revision of Pay, regular payment of salaries from the state’s Non-plan budget, and release of pending salaries with the 7 ROP. A press release from the association on Sunday informed about the decision. The association has expressed distress at the ‘casual attitude’ shown by the state government to the issues raised by the SSA teachers. ‘Any attempt by the government to improve the teacher’s performance in schools will not bear fruits if teacher’s job satisfaction is not taken into account,’ the press release asserted. The association has questioned the government’s ‘indifferent response in handling SSA grievances which acts as determinant factors affecting job satisfaction and performance of the teachers.’ The association lamented further that any kind of protest by teachers will severely affect routine functioning of government schools. The group has appealed to its members to be ‘ready to undertake democratic protest’ if the authorities fail to act on the group’s demands.
