United Brothers win open penalty shootout organised by Chümoukedima Gorkha Union

DIMAPUR — United Brothers won the open penalty shootout competition organised by the Chümoukedima Gorkha Union (CGU) at Chümoukedima local ground on October 7 to raise fund for its Silver Jubilee.

Gorkha Panthers Chümoukedima FC emerged the first runners-up of the event which was participated by 16 teams from neighbouring towns and villages, according to an update from the co-convenor of the Jubilee Committee.

Meivi Venuh from United Brothers received the Best Goalkeeper award of the tournament, it informed, adding that Kezhalelhou Shuya, Vitouto Koutsu, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, ADC and Administrator of Chümoukedima Town Council, were the well-wishers and sponsors of various prizes for the event.

Earlier in the event, Chief Guest B.B Chetri, Principal of North Town Hr. Sec. School, Chümoukedima Town, said that sports brings people together, while expressing hope that the event will carry the ingredient of peace and harmony.

The guest of honour, Deepak Chettri, Former President Rotary Club Dimapur, also called upon the youth to stay committed and work hard to excel in life, saying that “success is never by chance”.

Convenor of the Jubilee Committee, Adhitya B Rai delivered the welcome note and Sports Secretary of Jubilee Committee, CGU, Subhas Pariyar gave away the presentation during the closing function which was led by Jacob Sundas, Convenor of the Jubilee Committee.
