Kohima, August 7 (EMN): Just two days before the kick off of the much awaited Kohima Football League scheduled on August 9, United 16 FC launched its jerseys this evening at Where’s the Food restaurant, New Ministers' Hill, Kohima.
The team's official jerseys (both home and away) for this season were launched by Rovilatuo Mor, secretary (Home), Government of Nagaland.
In his address, Mor encouraged the team and the players to participate in the tournament with true spirit of sportsmanship.
Stating that winning spirit and discipline in food habits go side by side, he advised the players pointing out that many renowned sportspersons have lost their reputation due to their inability to handle their food habits.
Mor also expressed his happiness in the formation of the club, by bringing together the four colonies of Lerie, Lerie Chazou, New Ministers' Hill and New Reserve, through the medium of sports.
He further encouraged the four colonies to find common platforms not just in sports, but in other aspects of life too.
The launching programme was also attended by Dr Asalie Kire, chairman, New Reserve colony, who exhorted the players.
The programme was chaired by Vikito Swu, general secretary of the club, while invocation was pronounced by Kechesin Keppen, youth director PUBC. The presidential address was delivered by Worhonthung Yanthan.
A special prayer for the team and players was also pronounced by Libenthung Yanthan, associate pastor KLBC.
The programme was also attended by well wishers, sponsors and panchayat elders of the ward.
