Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Union Minister of Mines, Coal and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi will attend the first Northeast Geology and Mining Ministers’ Conclave to be held at Niathu Resort in Chumoukedima on October 31.

Joshi will be the chief guest of the conclave, while Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his Assamese counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya counterpart Conrad K Sangma will be the guests of honour.

In the first session of the conclave, discussions amongst different state ministers of the north-eastern states will be held to deliberate mainly on mining and geological activities in the region, updated PIB in a press statement.

The course and gist of the deliberations will be presented to Pralhad Joshi for further action in the second session before the event concludes with a cultural programme, it informed.

“This conclave will prove to be an effective platform for discussing issues specific to the NE region. Ministry of Mines desires to encourage exploration activities and auction of mines in the mineral rich NE states which will ultimately lead to development of the region,” it stated.

Maintaining that the ministry of Mines is constantly encouraging mineral exploration, geological and other mining activities across the country, the update said Joshi had consented to a request made at the recent National Mining Ministers’ Conference in Hyderabad, to hold a conclave exclusively for the Northeast.
