Imphal, Aug. 29 (EMN): Union minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar on Monday visited Manipur’s Chandel district and inspected various programmes which are being taken up under the aspirational districts programme.

Chandel district in Manipur borders Myanmar and is placed under the 115 aspirational districts of the country.

The Union minister attended a review meeting of the programmes at Chandel district headquarters wherein the Deputy Commissioner Mayanglangbam Rajkumar highlighted the works taken up under the Programme through a presentation.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking up various developmental programmes for the people of Northeast India. He said that under NITI Ayog, Prime Minister Modi had been giving top priority to developing the education and health sector.

He further said the central minister will continue to visit remote places of the country and will take up more development programmes through the district administrations.

In May this year, the Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste, visited Chandel to review the government programmes. Before him, Union minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush – Sarbananda Sonowal, reviewed the programme in the district in April 2022.The Hill Area Committee (HAC) of the Manipur legislative assembly has constituted a sub-committee for delimitation of constituencies of the Autonomous District Councils(ADC),Manipur on August 27,2022, according to a press release.

In this regard, constructive suggestions, opinions, views and inputs are invited from public leaders, civil organisations and all stakeholders concerned, the release issued by deputy secretary(HAC) Pammei Ningmei said.

Stating that for this purpose a timeline for the said input is set on or before September 5, it invited those willing to submit their written suggestions on the matter, to submit two copies of the memoranda addressed to the chairman of the sub-committee, Hill Area Committee, Manipur legislative assembly.
