Dimapur, June 14 (EMN):Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his two days visits to Aizawl, visited 23 Sector Assam Rifles on 13 June. Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, NAVSM, YSM, SM, VSM Director General Assam Rifles along with other dignitaries accompanied the Home Minister.
While addressing the troops of Assam Rifles in Sainik Sammelan organised at 48 Battalion Rajnath Singh appreciated their selfless service to the nation, the courage and valour they displayed during any adverse situation and the sacrifice they make to safeguard the country.
He informed that 2500 additional vacancies for the post of Havildar have been sanctioned for better promotional aspects. He also declared that in an unfortunate event of death, the next-of-kin would get an ex-gratia payment of minimum INR 1 crore.
During the Sammelan, DG AR informed that additional family quarters have been approved for the troops at important stations like Shillong, Guwahati and Silchar. Cdr 23 SECTOR ASSAM RIFLES, briefed to Home Minister on various issues pertaining to Assam Rifles and the state of Mizoram.
