Union Agri. Minister assures 'all possible support and coop' to state

Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): The Advisor Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan met with the Union Minister for Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh at his residential office on July 27 in New Delhi and apprised the union minister of the ongoing developmental activities of the department under 'Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). A press release issued by the PRO attached with the Advisor Horticulture, while informing about the meeting, stated that the Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh appreciated the performance of the department and also remairked that horticulture is one of the major income generating sector for the Northeast region. The union minister, on the request of the horticulture advisor for more support to horticulture development in Nagaland for doubling of the farmers' income in the state, assured of the Union Agriculture Ministry to extend all possible support and cooperation. The advisor also highlighted the activities of the Central Institute of Horticulture and also the issues relating to strengthening of manpower of the institute.  A letter in this regard by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio was also submitted to the Union Minister, the release stated. The release further added that the Advisor for Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan was accompanied by the Principal Secretary Horticulture, MK Mero and the Director of Horticulture and Mission Director MIDH, Dr R Elithung Lotha.
