Unidentified armed assailants kill 3 in Nagaland’s Peren district; funeral expected today

Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): Three persons were killed by unidentified armed assailants on Monday afternoon at Lamhainamdi village in Peren district.

The deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, informed Eastern Mirror on Tuesday that the village authority was having a meeting regarding the situation at the time of filing this report and the funeral is expected at 11 am today, March 23.

Aier informed that deceased persons including the driver of tata mobile that was set fire by miscreants.

The incident happened when the victims were clearing the jungle at Lamhainamdi area, which is said to be a point of contention for two communities.

The deputy commissioner of Peren informed that Section 144 CrPC has not been implemented but will do so if the need arises.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Peren), Limaakum T Jamir said that the police are currently conducting search operations at the incident area.

More information is awaited as the police department is still investigating the incident.
