UNICA FC win Kohima District Futsal Championship

DIMAPUR — The UNICA FC emerged winners of the 2nd Kohima District Futsal Championship organised by the Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) at Niathu Sports, Khikha, on October 6.

Participated by eight teams -- Lhouchalie FC, UNICA FC, Kohima Sports Club, Chüziema FC, Black Pearls, Nagabazar Y.O, A. Yhome FC (A) and U Kicha – group toppers of the league matches Black Pearls and UNICA FC vied for the championship title in the final, wherein the latter emerged winners, according to an update from the KDFA.

UNICA FC walked away with a cash prize of INR 30,000, trophy and citation. It will also represent Kohima district in the Nagaland Futsal Championship. The second runners-up -- Black Pearls – won a cash prize of INR ₹20,000, trophy and citation, it said, adding that participation citation was given to all the players.

Seyielhouvi Nagi, M Mathew Yhome and Dzieseneituo Belho gave away the prizes to the winners of the championship officiated by the Kohima District Football Referees Association. It was informed that Atou Yhome sponsored the championship trophy, while Neilekho Zutso sponsored the runners-up cash prize of the event.

An exhibition match was also played between the KDFA and Kohima District Athletics Association.

Earlier in the programme, Special Guest Anthony Ngullie, Secretary, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, kicked off the championship and Convenor of the event Seyielhouvi Nagi delivered the welcome address.
