Unemployed trained nurses of Mkg supports parent body demands

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Unemployed Trained Nurses Association of Nagaland (UTNAN), Mokokchung unit has extended support to the “just demands” being placed to the state government by the Union’s parent body UTNAN with regard to employment of staff nurses in state health sector.
A press release from the nurses’ union stated that it stands by the UTNAN’s demand to the state government to revoke the re-amendment of Nursing Service Rules of Nagaland 2014 and for post creation, promotions and upgrade of nursing cadre in district hospitals/CHCs/PHCs and other health units.“It is more than a decade, but the state government has not been able to provide employment to the unemployed trained staff nurses which is causing untold hardships to the trained unemployed staff nurses.
“More than a decade is passing since after our training, most of the trained staff nurses are becoming over-aged for government service. It must be noted here that the best time to provide service is during the prime of our youth and therefore we would like to question whether we would be able to provide the required services after we become old people,” the statement read.
It stated that as rightly pointed out by UTNAN, there is shortage of staff nurses in the hospitals and other health centers in the state. However we fail to understand why the state government is failing to create more posts for the staff nurses in these health institutions which is facing shortage of staff nurses, it wondered.
“Under such circumstances, with this glaring shortage of staff nurses in the hospitals and health centers, the present staff nurses in health institutions cannot cater to all the patients who come to seek medical help.
“Therefore, the UTNAN Mokokchung Unit strongly asserts that whatever demands the UTNAN has submitted to the state government is valid, just and needs to be implemented immediately. In this regard, the Mokokchung Unit declares that whatever decision or actions that the UTNAN decides to take up, the Mokokchung Unit will also wholeheartedly and resolutely support it,” it further said.
