DIMAPUR — Resident representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India, Isabelle Tschan, who is in Nagaland as a state guest during the Hornbill Festival 2023, visited Phek District Hospital on November 30.
During her visit to Phek District Hospital, Tschan held interaction with Dr. Avilie Zao, medical superintendent, and staff. She also interacted with Dr. Pewezo Khalo, district programme officer (UIP/RCH), and immunisation staff with regard to cold chain and vaccine management and use of eVIN and U-WIN in their daily vaccination sessions.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, informed that UNDP and the Government of Japan had donated two oxygen generation plants to Nagaland, one each for Phek and Tuensang, which was inaugurated by Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, on June 22, 2021.
It added that UNDP is supporting Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State departments on implementation of Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN), winning over COVID (CoWIN) and recently winning over Universal Immunisation Programme (U-WIN), which aims to digitalise the entire routine immunisation programme in India.
She was accompanied by the UNDP team including Meenakshi Kathel, chief advisor UNDP; Jaimon C Uthup, policy specialist; John Borgoyary, regional head of Northeast; Kingson Kamkara, HSS senior project officer of Nagaland and Manipur.
