Undergraduate entrance exams for class 12 students in 2020

Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Mar. 1 (EMN): Students aspiring to study in premier higher education institutions in India after completing class 12 should make sure that they don’t miss national level entrance exams that are usually conducted months before the declaration of their board exam results, as admissions to professional courses are decided on the basis of marks (merit) scored in such exams.

Application processes for some entrance exams are already over, while some are still underway and many to begin soon. Here are some entrance exams aspiring candidates (class 12 students) can apply before registrations are closed.

JEE (Main)

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts Joint Entrance Examination (Main) twice a year — in January and April — for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), institutions funded by participating state governments, and other institutions. Candidates are selected based on the performance in class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination and in the JEE (Main).  

Students can write both the entrance exams in a year as only the best score is considered for admission.

The BE/BTech of JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which aspiring candidates should take for admission to the undergraduate programmes at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

Registration for JEE (Main) 2020 began on February 7 and will be closed on March 6. Interested students should apply online at www.jeemain.nta.nic.in and exams are scheduled to be held on April 5, 7, 9 and the 11th.

NEET 2020

NTA conducts National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS/BDS courses and other undergraduate medical courses in all recognised medical/dental and other institutes, including MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, and JIPMER.

“Online only” registration for NEET 2020 was opened to the aspirants from December 2 to the 31st, 2019. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 3 (Sunday), 2020. Those who have applied for the said exam can upload admit cards on NTA official website (www.ntaneet.nic.in) on March 27. The date for answer key display will be announced later on NTA website while results are scheduled to be declared on June 4 2020.

NCHM JEE 2020

The National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE) is conducted for admission to B.Sc. course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc.HHA) at the Institute of Hotel Managements (IHMs) affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. The NCHM JEE 2020 is a computer-based test (CBT) for three-year (six semesters) duration course.

Students who have passed or appearing in 10+2 or equivalent from any stream with English as a pass subject and aged 28 years for SC/ST/PwD and 25 years for General/EWS/OBC categories as on July 1 2020 are eligible to apply for the exam.

Registration for the exam started on January 1 this year and will continue till April 3 at http://nchm.nic.in/. The entrance test will be held on April 25 (Saturday) from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

It may be noted that NCHM MSc. JEE 2020 for admission to 2-year M.Sc. (HA) will be held on May 16 and online application is currently opened at the NCHM official website.

ICAR Entrance Exam

The Indian Council for Agricultural Research’s (ICAR) all India entrance examination for admission to undergraduate courses in its 75 agriculture universities across the country is conducted by the National Testing Agency.

The entrance test for this academic year is scheduled to be held on June 1. Date of registration and other details are not yet furnished at the time of filing this report. Aspiring candidates can get details including the start of online applications, exam mode etc. from the websites www.nta.ac.in or www.ntaicar.nic.in in the coming days. Students who have passed 10+2 can appear for the exam.

CLAT 2020

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by 22 national law universities in India.

Those interested in taking up law can register for CLAT 2020 which is currently underway and will be opened till March 31 at https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2020/.The admission test is scheduled to be held on May 10 and answer keys will be uploaded on the following day.

Candidates who have registered accounts and have initiated the online application process can access and attempt the first sample paper for UG-CLAT 2020, which is currently available online.

University Entrance Exams

Various reputed universities, including Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University, also conduct entrance exams separately to select students for admission. So, students planning to pursue higher studies in reputed educational institutions should check the official websites of varsities they want to study in for information related to entrance exams.
