DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20

NPF president Shurhozelie Liezietsu has termed Tuesday’s Legislature Party of NPF (Noke group) meeting in Dimapur as “was done without any authority”. Shurhozelie Liezietsu said that the actual meeting was held in Kohima. Explaining the development, Shurhozelie said that many people were of the opinion that the present crisis was an internal crisis among the NPF legislators and suggested that the matter should be solved from among the NPF members. “The party supported this opinion and, therefore, requested the Chief Minister who is also the leader of the NPF Legislature Party to convene a meeting on January 20 at 11 am at Kohima. Accordingly, the meeting was convened but the rebels did not come to the meeting. Others had a normal meeting and reiterated their support to Mr. T.R.Zeliang’s leadership,” he added in a statement.
“In the meantime, Mr. Kuzholuzo Nienu published a meeting notice in Eastern Mirror convening a parallel meeting to meet at Niathu Resort on the same day and at the same hour. He signed the notice as Chief Whip of NPF Legislature Party. This was done without any authority,” stated Shurhozelie.
According to Shurhozelie, Kuzholuzo was the Chief Whip of NPF Legislature Party earlier, but he was replaced by Kiyanilie Peseyie ‘for reason known to everyone’. “Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie was appointed as Chief Whip for Parliamentary Party of Naga People’s Front in Nagaland Legislative Assembly by the NPF president dated the 14th November, 2014 as per the provision of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution of India and also as per Art. V, clause 10 of the NPF constitution,” he stated.
Shurhozelie Liezietsu then said that the Nagaland Legislative Assembly vide their Notification No. AS/LEG-31/2013 dated the 15th November, 2014 notified this appointment. This notification was circulated to the Govt. of India and all State Assemblies in the Country. “Therefore, Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie is the NPF Chief Whip in Nagaland Legislative Assembly and there is no other. Any one claiming himself as Chief Whip without authority shall entail consequences under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution of India,” Shurhozelie Liezietsu also said.
Therefore, be it known to one and all that since the rebels failed to attend the meeting for reconciliation, the only option left now is to go to the floor of the Assembly for strength test, he stated. “If their claim of having majority is true why they are afraid to come to the House?,” Shurhozelie asked. In fact, if their claim of having majority is true, they are supposed to move ‘No-Confidence Motion’ against Mr. T.R. Zeliang’s ministry, the statement of Shurhozelie also said. But since they are not in a position to do that but continue to create confusions, the Chief Minister himself has put “Confidence Motion’ which challenges the rebels to come to the House for strength test and decide the matter once and for all, Shurhozelie further stated.
“ The rebels should not take the Naga people for a ride. Their intention is to create problem after problem and invite President’s Rule by taking up ‘dog in a manger policy’. Their actions are not only against the DAN Govt. but very much against the interest of the Naga people as a whole. As for the party, we do not want PR but we want TR,” he asserted.
