UMSU organises first freshers’ meet

Officials of the United Minority Students’ Union (UMSU) pose for a photograph on the occasion of its first freshers’ meet on August 24 at Kevijau Colony, Dimapur.

Dimapur, Aug. 24 (EMN): Unified Minority Students’ Union of Dimapur Government College (UMSU-DGC) held its first freshers’ meet at BSNL community hall, Kevijau Colony, Dimapur, on August 24. United Minority Students’ Union (UMSU) was formed in the year 2018 by non-Naga students of Dimapur Government College for welfare of the students.
The programme was graced as by Bishnu Bhattacharjee, prominent social worker and president of NPF Minority Wing (central), as the chief guest along with other special invitees.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharjee emphasised on technical education and skill development to compete at the national-level in the field of employment.

‘This kind of united students forum is an asset for the nation and the need of the hour,’ he said.
Other speakers included Raju Rao, UNSU president, Sailendra from BSNL, and Rajat Ghosh, general secretary of Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union.

Cultural shows highlighting songs and dances, Mr and Miss Freshers competition by students have marked the programme. Morengam Lamkang and Anjali Devi were crowned Mr and Miss Freshers. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ruipa Narzary, UMSU general secretary, and concluded with a benediction said by Jenny.
