OTHM stands for Organisation of Tourism and Hotel Management which is based in the United Kingdom. The academic programme was formally launched by joint secretary of Nagaland Hotel & Restaurants Association (NHRA), Temjenkala Aier in the college in the presence C-Edge College faculty, students and others. The NHRA Joint Secretary, Temjenkala Aier, during her address at the launch programme, hoped that the newly launched programme will benefit many Naga youngsters, turn them into working professionals and also hone the young entrepreneurs in the state. While congratulating the college for taking the initiative, Aier expressed hope that in the long run, the college would become a hub for aspiring youths to pursue hospitality management within the state. The College Media Coordinator, Wapangla Imchen disclosed that the course was introduced with an objective to provide more career opportunities for the younger generation. The students aspiring to take up hospitality management need not go outside the state but avail the degree from the state itself, she said. The director of Matrix Infosys Education Consultants, Ajesh Gugnani, who was present at the event, gave a brief information about the Hospitality Management course. He said the newly launched course that it was a certified programme that guarantees 100 percent job assurances with internship training from the best hospitality organisations around the world. On the same line, the operations manager of Emporium Training & Consultancy, Anirban Mukherjee, also supplemented that hospitality management is the second largest industry having vast job opportunities, especially for the youngsters. During an interactive session with the students of C-Edge College, Gugnani and Mukherjee gave a comprehensive explanation about the course. Gugnani stated that the hospitality management was a one year degree course in which they provide international internship in China, Malaysia, Mauritius, Thailand, Singapore, and Dubai among other countries. To enroll for the course, students have to pay INR 2 lakhs 20 thousand which would cover air tickets, visa, and travelling insurance. Mukherjee also spoke about the course in which he stated that the Nagas can avail the opportunity as Nagas are inherently hospitable by nature. He mentioned about some Nagas working at the Oberoi Hotel and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai and encouraged the students to make use of the opportunity. Stating that financial constraint was the chief reason to many students not opting for the management course Gugnani mentioned that they provide scholarship to bright and deserving students who have a passion in the business. They offer INR 1 lakh in each session. The Matrix Infosys group admitted to have trained 5000 students. Students can pursue the course after the completion of class 12. The principal of C-Edge College admitted that the college will strive hard to find out ways to motivate students so that they come forward and pursue the course.
