Ukhrul, May, 20, (EMN): The Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) has revoked its boycott call on press coverage of the ongoing Shirui Lily festival with immediate effect, following an amicable understanding reached between the convenor of the Shirui Lily festival organising committee N Ashok Kumar, secretary Tourism, Government of Manipur and representatives of UDWJA during a joint meeting in the presence of Ukhrul deputy commissioner Pradip Chandren held at DC residence, Tangrei on Saturday.

UDWJA has readily accepted the sincere apology Ashok Kumar has tendered on behalf of the organising committee, for the unfortunate lack of coordination with the Ukhrul based journalists /UDWJA members that had crept in the logistics arrangements for the Shirui Lily festival. Acknowledging the sidelining of the journalists association based in Ukhrul district where the festival is being celebrated from May 16 to 20 at the state level, Ashok Kumar conceded that the failure on the part of the organising committee to coordinate with the Ukhrul journalists was due to short notice of the festival and that it was anything but intentional.

Responding to the appeal of UDWJA representatives for better coordination with the association for coverage of the Shirui Lily festival and other governmental events in the days to come, Ashok Kumar has also assured in no uncertain terms to ensure that such unfortunate cases of lack of coordination with local journalists do not repeat in future.
