Wokha, 22 Jan. (EMN): Clearing the confusion among the party workers in the district, Naga People’s Front (NPF) legislator, Dr. Chumben Murry, stated that formation of all party government on the nomenclature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was a long-felt agenda among the different political parties in Nagaland to strengthen the talks for Indo-Naga political settlement.
Addressing the party members during a consultative meeting-cum-picnic of the NPF Wokha division at Doyang Hydro Project on January 22, Dr. Murry said that UDA government was formed to have close discussion on Naga issue and clarified that there was no demand for power as misconstrued by many people. He added that NPF went for a political settlement and not for government formation.
Dr. Murry also stated that NPF leaders are sincerely working to bring about Naga political settlement at the earliest. He cited an instance where its leader along with the chief minister had earlier visited Delhi to fulfill the much awaited dreams of the Naga people. He also appreciated the positive progress made in the Naga political issue under UDA government.
Meanwhile, he urged the party members to revamp the office functioning of 38 assembly constituency and NPF Wokha division.
Tsumongo Ovung, NPF senior vice president (COB), stated that NPF is the second oldest regional party in India. He reminded the members in the district to strengthen the party as the state might go for election if there was no solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
Grace T Murry, NPF general secretary of women wing (COB), advised the party workers to have principle and called for a collective action, ideas and plans to bring achievement. She advocated fairness and equality in the developmental activities.
Chobathung Odyuo, NPF CEC member, stated that NPF is the most appropriate political party for Naga people and encouraged the party workers to have perseverance and endurance. He further encouraged the members to prepare well to execute plans into action in the next state election.
Various party workers from 37, 38, 39 and 40 assembly constituencies also spoke on the occasion.
During the consultative meeting, the NPF Wokha division resolved to appreciate the leadership of NDPP, BJP and NPF for coming together to form all party government with an aim to facilitate the Indo-Naga political settlement in a unified manner. The house also resolved to endorse the leadership of the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister, Y Patton, and NPF legislators to bring about a resolution to the vexed Naga political issue.
NPF Wokha division further appealed to the UDA leadership for an equal treatment towards the NPF legislators to achieve maximum development for the betterment of Naga people.
